Two Words Every Three Years

A man wanted to become a monk so he went to the monastery and talked to the head monk.

The head monk said, “You must take a vow of silence and can only say two words every three years.”

The man agreed and after the first 3 years, the head monk came to him and said, “What are your two words?”

“Food cold!” the man replied.

Three more years went by and the head monk came to him and said “What are your two words?”

“Robe dirty!” the man exclaimed.

Three more years went by and the head monk came to him and said, “What are your two words?”

“I quit!” said the man.

“Well,” the head monk replied, “I am not surprised. You have done nothing but complain ever since you got here!”

  1. There was a similar joke that I think was better.

Three monks are sitting in a cave meditating, and a shadow passed across the mouth of the cave. Two weeks passed and the first monk said “I think it was a leaf falling”. Two weeks more passed by, and the second monk said, “No, it was a bird flying by”. After two weeks more went by, the third monk said “If you two are going to argue, I’m leaving”.

    • Sol Saguaro, I believe that you’re not understanding what a joke is. Definition of Joke: A thing that someone says or writes down to cause amusement or laughter, especially a story with a funny punchline, a trick played on someone for fun, (informal) a person or thing that is ridiculously inadequate. VERB: make jokes; talk humorously or flippantly, (archaic) poke fun at. It’s not that people are unfamiliar with other cultures it’s that other cultures find humor in things that can sometimes be offensive to people of different race, religion, political views, etc.. I would like to believe that the majority of people out there aren’t trying to hurt anyone”s feelings and they’re just posting their jokes out of ignorance without a thought that it may hurt or insult their fellow man. I as a United States of America citizen born and raised these 54 years of my life and believe in the traditional values that were bestilled in me by parents, family, and generations before them would like to apologize to you if you were offended. I wish that I could speak for my fellow countrymen but in The US Constitution’s first amendment which protects freedom of speech make it that I can only speak for myself.
